Migraines in children, just as in adults, can last hours to days. When they last more than a day, we call it status migrainosus. Hello. That EEG report is not comprehensive enough to determine whether this is Rolandic Epilepsy, but the location is the right one, in and around the temporal lobes. As the name implies, it is a benign type of epilepsy, that we often not even treat pharmacologically. If the seizures happen frequently enough, though, we do treat, since there have been studies showing that left untreated, they can have an impact in a kid's behavior and development. They are often outgrown, so we typically repeat an EEG when the kid has been seizure free for a couple of years. If the EEG is clean, we slowly wean off the antiepileptic drug.
