Dr. Nathan D. Zasler holds a B.S. in Psychobiology from the University of California, Los Angeles, obtained in 1980, and earned his MD from the University of the Health Sciences, The Chicago Medical School in 1985. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and has completed fellowship training in brain injury, with subspecialty certification in Brain Injury Medicine. Currently, he serves as an affiliate professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Virginia Commonwealth University and is a visiting professor at the University of Virginia. Dr. Zasler is also the founder, CMO, and CEO of the Concussion Care Centre of Virginia and serves as Medical Director of Tree of Life in Richmond, Virginia. He is recognized as a fellow of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and the International Academy of Independent Medical Evaluators.

Dr. Zasler is widely recognized for his contributions to brain injury medicine, having published over 200 peer-reviewed articles and authored more than 60 book chapters. He has edited eight textbooks, including the key reference "Brain Injury Medicine: Principles and Practice," now in its third edition. In addition to his editorial roles, he is co-editor of the international journals "Brain Injury" and "NeuroRehabilitation," and serves on numerous editorial boards. His expertise has earned him several accolades, including the NHIF Young Investigator Award and the Sheldon Berrol Clinical Service Award from the Brain Injury Association of America. Dr. Zasler is actively involved in various local, national, and international organizations focused on acquired brain injury and neurodisability, often taking on consultant and board member roles.
