When the patient came up to the front desk, their comment was, "I'm in my 30s and no one ever cleaned my teeth the way they were cleaned today and no one ever showed me how to floss and brush." The forces exerted on the two natural teeth may be O.K. Your dentist can't determine if only one crown on each side of those missing teeth will be enough. If it is not, one crown may be loosening up. This means you may have to go back to get your bridge recemented. This is to make you aware that this can happen. If you choose this: crown crown ___________crown crown, two crowns before, two pontics, two crowns after, pontics are the missing teeth. This means you will be paying for 6 units. At this point, considering 6x the price of a crown, are you a candidate for implants? The price of 2 implants is in the area of 6 crowns. Your filling has fallen out. We expect that once the decay is removed from our tooth, the tooth will be restored. Sometimes when a tooth is restored, the size of the restoration and where the restoration was placed is important. The restorations today are great. Tooth colored restoration provides a mechanical and chemical bond with the tooth. You floss and brush your tooth like you care for your other teeth. Biting into apples or hard items, chewing hard nuts, gooey candy, ice chewing place forces on your natural teeth and fillings. You may have been told that the filling in your tooth could loosen because of where it is placed. You may have been told that a crown or some other permanent restoration may be needed. Lately, this question of sensitive teeth is a frequent question. Eating hot, spicy foods is popular. For those people who are not a fan of the spicy food rage, bland foods are spiced up. It is not your teeth that may be the problem. Your gum condition may be the problem. Do you correctly floss and brush daily? In many cases, sensitive teeth may be sensitive gum tissue. You can help yourself by first visiting your dentist. If you have consulted your dentist, let's look at your home care. Do you floss first daily? You slide the floss between two teeth. You slide along the side of your tooth. You go down as far as you can go. You scrape your tooth with your floss, back and forth and up and down, then move the floss to a new area on your floss and move to the adjacent tooth. When you brush, take a soft toothbrush and, starting with the last tooth in the corner of your mouth, place the toothbrush 1/2 tooth, 1/2 gum and brush gently back and forth 3-4 times. Then, move to the next group of teeth. You brush your gum line over to the last tooth on the opposite side, go behind the last tooth, then do the gum line where your tongue and palate are. Brush your flat surfaces top and bottom. Brushing your tongue is next. You can buy a tongue cleaner or take a teaspoon turn it over until the round side faces your palate. You place the spoon in the middle of your tongue and gently scrape your tongue while moving the spoon out of your mouth. The slimy whitish mass is what was hiding out in the nooks and crannies of your tongue. You scrape the other two sides and rinse with warm salt water. Then you gargle. Water irrigators are good. Rinsing out your mouth with water or warm salt water is beneficial. GETTING debris out from areas around your teeth is a bonus. You should be finger flossing, but if water irrigators is the best you can manage, do the best you can. It is not emphasized enough that YOU are the only one who can save your teeth. Each patient can save his or her own teeth. Each patient is responsible for not taking care of his or her own teeth. Patients can give their mouths that second chance, if needed. Our teeth move all the time. Your bite may have changed and you may have been biting hard on the crowned tooth. Depending on what the condition of your tooth, your crown may be able to be recemented. If the tooth was root canaled, you may not have any pain. You need to get back to your dentist; if you wait too long, your crown may not fit.

After you have a cigarette, rinse your mouth and gargle to get the nicotine off your tissues. That black on your tongue could be nicotine staining the food particles on your tongue. You should see your dentist to check things out. You may want to invest in a tongue cleaner. You can buy one or turn a teaspoon so the round side faces your palate. Place the spoon in the middle of your tongue go as far back without gagging and gently scrape forward. You will see a mass of brown slimy material. This is what has been hiding in the nooks and crannies of your tongue.

Right now, you have an infection. Bacteria is going into your mouth and you are swallowing it. And bacteria is getting through your body from the tip of your roots via your blood vessels. If you have any problems, i.e., heart murmur, systemic diseases, this is why taking care of your teeth is so important.
