Dr. Barbara A. Tarnoski, D.M.D.
Dentist | General Practice
Dr. Tarnoski practices at Philadelphia Dental Laser and Cosmetic Dentistry, LLC. This office offers LANAP and LAPIP Laser Services. These services use the Periolase MVP-7 Laser(TM). This laser, was built specifically to treat gum disease of natural teeth (LANAP) and gum disease of implants (LAPIP). The unique wavelength targets the bacteria that causes gum disease but uses a minimally invasive, BUT highly effective treatment. With LANAP and LAPIP there is no cutting/no sewing. There is less pain. This laser stimulates YOUR OWN BODY's STEM CELLS. Your body rebuilds its own supporting tooth structures to the best of its ability. THIS IS "YOUR SECOND CHANCE" to start with a mouth free of all gum disease bacteria. All gum disease bacteria is gone in one treatment!
Good mouth care is now your future. Mouth bacteria, gum disease bacteria, are not just staying in your mouth. The research shows, bacteria in your mouth gets into your bloodstream and is traveling to your brain, liver, pancreas, kidneys, joints, bladder, (etc.). Gum Disease and ALZHEIMER'S--There is a relationship. Inflamed arteries and veins, uncontrolled High Blood Pressure, High blood sugar, Pancreatic Cancer, all have a relationship. A high percentage of these patients have or had gum disease.
Our office helps patients develop a mouth care plan. No flossing, careless brushing but you visit your dentist twice a year? Patients have their teeth in their mouth--24/7: putting food in your mouth continuously, not cleaning your mouth to remove food particles? Food particles are rotting in your mouth and along with the bacteria and this is moving all over you body and we know this can't be good. The damage from cigarettes alone has injured our bodies. You don't smoke? But what about the bacteria and the toxins roaming all over your body, this can't good. The best you can do is clean your mouth, teeth and remove the bacteria. Your significant other can also have gum disease. Close contact
transmits gum disease. Parents lack of good mouth care can affect their children.
Mouth care is major part of our office. We also work with those patients who have been in head and neck pain longer than 18 months. We work with TMJ patients but also work with patients who are still in pain.
Our office practices general dentistry.

You have calcium in your saliva and the calcium will become tartar. Tartar and plaque are two different layers that form. Plaque crystallizes between 24-48 hours. Plaque can penetrate tartar and move to get on your tooth surface.
There the bacteria, living and dead, rotting food particles, toxic waste from bacteria, and living and dead fighting cells your body sends to fight the bacteria. Plaque irritates your gumline
tissues and ATTACHED GINGIVA that is 2-3 millimeters wide. This precious ATTACHED GINGIVA prevents food particles from going down towards your roots of your teeth. Plaque on your teeth has bacteria living and dead and their acids attacking the enamel on your teeth leaving those white spots. White spots can form
at your gumline or anywhere on your teeth. These white spots are weakened areas that can become cavities. You have to floss your teeth correctly and brush your teeth correctly daily.
You want to brush the areas on your teeth gently
and a little longer. You want clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. You take your tongue cleaner and place it in the middle of your tongue. You go back as far as you can without gagging. In one stroke move your tongue cleaner forward and out of your mouth. You will
see a slimy whitish mass of material. This is what was hiding out in the nooks and crannies of your tongue. Rinse your tongue cleaner off and scrape the other two sides. When you are finished rinse your mouth with warm salt water, and then gargle with the salt water. You also can try taking a half teaspoon of baking soda and a few drops of coconut oil. You place the baking soda in your hand and add the few drops of coconut oil and brush your teeth. This can prevent plaque from attaching to the tooth surfaces. You can also zest a lemon. Take a 1/4
teaspoon of the zest-- take the teaspoon of baking soda, the coconut oil, and add the 1/4 teaspoon of lemon zest and brush your teeth.
If you have enough zest, you can dry the zest and store it in a small jar. You can use the added zest 2-3 times a week. Coconut oil can be bought at the grocery store. It may be white and
looks like vegetable shortening
Coconut oil becomes a clear oil around 76 degrees. You can take a teaspoon of coconut oil
and place it in a plastic cup and place it in warm water, it will become a liquid oil quickly..
Flossing and brushing correctly daily is the best way to control gum disease. It should also keep those brown stains away. If you are a smoker,
think what smoking does to your teeth. What is smoking doing to your mouth tissues, your throat
Membranes and your lungs. The nicotine is also
Affecting your esophagus, stomach, bladder and kidneys.
