Everything you say suggests that this is a viral infection and you can expect it to last 3 to 4 days. Symptomatic treatment, as you have been doing, will be of some help, but the virus just needs to run its course. You may want to add an antihistamine (allegra, Zyrtec)to your treatment as it would help with the congestion and drainage. This is all part of an upper respiratory infection (URI). Tinnitus can be caused by several things but most common is caused by noise induced high frequency hearing loss. As far as treatment is concerned first it is important that you do not have a wax impaction of the ear canal as this can be a cause of hearing loss. An audiometric exam can best determine your type of hearing loss. If your understandingi is good a hearing aid may be of some benefit. Some medicine may contribute to your tinnitus so a drug review is important. Some people benefit from the use of a masker. A good ENT history and exam is the best first step.
