It is possible to have a perforated eardrum from a collision. Some perforations are not painful; it all depends on the position of the damage. An audiologist can look at the eardrum and see if it is damaged, and may even perform a test called tympanometry to objectively check for a perforation. The eardrum is usually able to heal itself if given time, usually a few weeks for a small perforation; however, the audiologist you see will be able to help determine if this needs other medical care. Try to avoid letting water into the ear while it is healing.

I recommend visiting an audiologist or ear, nose, and throat (ENT) doctor to have your ear evaluated more thoroughly. Medical doctors and nurse practitioners are taught differently how to look in patient ears and determine problems. A more specialized doctor will be able to see what is happening and remove any excess ear wax.

Hearing loss may be fixed if it is caused by an issue in the outer or middle ear system that is treatable (such as impacted ear wax or certain middle ear bone damage). However, if the hearing loss is in the inner ear or if the condition is not treatable, the hearing loss will be permanent. When someone has hearing loss in one ear there are options!
For some patients, using devices called "CROS" hearing aids are very helpful. The weak ear wears the CROS device, which looks like a hearing aid but is really just a set of microphones with a transmitter. The better ear wears a hearing aid that may or may not increase the volume for that ear (depending on how well it hears). The CROS transmits the sound to the better ear hearing aid. In this way, the better ear now will have sound from both sides. This allows the person to hear sounds from all around, even if it's all through one ear.
Other patients seek out implanted devices such as bone-anchored hearing aids (BAHAs) or cochlear implants (CIs). To be a candidate for these devices, there are more specific medical criteria required.

Tinnitus can certainly be caused from some medications, like aspirin. Researchers have found that people who have an abnormally large dose of aspirin, or an overdose, are far more likely to report tinnitus as a symptom afterwards. I have had patients with chronic tinnitus find relief from their symptoms when using sound machines, when engaging in exercise more, or when finding a therapeutic outlet such as meditation or creating art. It is impossible to know how long your tinnitus will last, but it is something that can be managed.

Depending on where your friend lives, there may be a free clinic option available. Otherwise, during a flare-up, an urgent care may be able to see him. If he has documentation of the work-related injury, it is possible there is workman's compensation he could obtain. I really encourage him to try and find a doctor to see, as infections that are left untreated can spread and cause more damage.

This depends mostly on the distance you will be away from the aircraft. While sound level meter apps on cell phones are not 100% accurate, you could use the NIOSH app to get an idea of how loud it is at the place you'll be watching from. If the sound is over 90 decibels, I recommend hearing protection. If the child is covering his ears voluntarily, go ahead and use hearing protection for his comfort. At three, over-the-ear earmuff style hearing protection is great. These can be found online from many retailers, and he can choose a fun color or design to make using them more enjoyable.

This question is a little tricky to answer. Sometimes the hearing returns to normal range, and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes hearing seems normal on a test, but the child will continue to perform in daily life as if there is a hearing loss. Sometimes recommendations for tubes or a temporary hearing aid may be given. If you notice that your child's speech is delayed or sounds different than you would expect, seek out a referral to speech pathology to help build speech skills and reduce the effects of the ear infection and hearing loss.

Tinnitus can be from a variety of causes, as well as headaches. If the two seem to come and go together, after having a hearing test to confirm that your hearing hasn't changed, you may want to consider massage therapy or chiropractic care to see if it is relieved by relieving tension in the neck. Some other ideas would be to increase your water intake and reduce your sodium and/or sugar intake.

You may want to consider having a hearing test to establish a baseline for your hearing in case you notice further changes. If you're listening to music, consider setting a volume limit to help prevent damage from loud music. Part of hearing is attention. It is possible that you are becoming so focused when you study that you are not hearing the phone as quickly due to the focused attention on studying. Consider adopting a Pomodoro studying technique--it will give you time to relax during those long study sessions as well as help you remember what you are studying! Another idea, there is usually a function for a light to flash when the phone rings. Consider adding this function so you have a visual tool to know when the phone is ringing.

It is possible to have a hearing loss after glandular fever, though the connection between the two is not fully understood. There are relationships between hearing and anxiety, depression, etc., and there are many causes of hearing loss that would not show anything abnormal on an MRI. Without more specific details on your case, I cannot give a specific opinion; however, if you have hearing tests showing hearing loss, I would seek out another opinion for developing a treatment plan.
