I wanted to entitle this article "You Do You" as that has become quite a popular statement; however, I didn't know who to credit....pardon me. So, you do yourself and where this comes from evolves from comments made by my patients as well as myself. I don't know what inspires us to say this or feel this way. Perchance, deep down, we believe that self improvement is frivolous since as multitaskers with multi-responsibilities, we should not even think about ourselves. The saying goes, "Well, I do little things like filler, botox for myself. Not for anyone else. I do it to make me feel better."

Okay. So, what is wrong with that? Absolutely nothing in a time when we have options that weren't available 20 years prior. In my training back in the 90's, age-intervention procedures were quite invasive. Now, even facelifts have evolved into refined techniques with minimal downtime. There is nothing wrong with a little fresher upper self care in current times to help improve self confidence. Of course, one can also achieve this with regular exercise and a healthy diet. And......a good attitude. You see, as I keep writing these articles you will note the common theme of, first, good healthy habits then progressing to small interventions to help us feel better about ourselves.

The extent of intervention from minimally invasive procedures such as RF (radiofrequency) botox, fillers to more invasive procedures such as abdominoplasty, breast reduction, or liposuction, let's say, are certainly options in the current market. With advances in healthcare, in the correct setting, one has options to correct bothersome issues. For example, the post-operative smile on a patient's face after breast reduction, is so rewarding for me, the plastic surgeon. Not only is the back pain and weight reduced but also the breasts are lifted and shapely.

I covered a wide spectrum of procedures but my point is that you do yourself. Maintain healthy habits, study that which you want corrected, take your time, and then proceed (if you wish) without the need to justify to yourself why you need to do something to help you feel better.
