For Mother’s Day, Let’s Talk About Mom’s Back (and Neck… and Shoulders…)
From all of us at Swank Chiropractic Sports Medicine in Cary, NC
She carries a baby for nine months, then carries the baby, the car seat, the diaper bag, and everyone’s emotional baggage for the next 18+ years. She lifts, twists, kneels, and squats like an elite athlete — but without the warm-ups, recovery time, or endorsement deals.
She doesn’t stop when her back hurts. She doesn’t sit when she’s tired. She just keeps going, one Target run and bedtime routine at a time.
And it takes a toll.
Pregnancy alone places significant strain on the spine, pelvis, and surrounding musculature. As the body adapts to growing weight and hormonal changes, posture shifts, ligaments loosen, and the core weakens. After delivery, repetitive movements like nursing, carrying, and rocking, place continued stress on the upper back, shoulders, and hips — often leading to joint dysfunction, muscle tightness, and chronic pain.
At Swank Chiropractic Sports Medicine, we help new and experienced mothers alike recover from these changes and prevent long-term damage. Our team provides gentle, safe chiropractic care to restore joint mobility, relieve pressure on irritated nerves, and improve muscular balance. We also offer personalized rehab strategies to strengthen weakened areas and support better movement — so moms can feel like themselves again.
Because motherhood isn’t just hard work — it’s physical work. And if she’s going to keep doing the job of three people every single day, the least we can do is help her do it without pain… and maybe even with enough energy left to finish her coffee while it’s still hot.
