Like all medical procedures, undergoing cheek implantation has risks and benefits. There are a few alternatives to undergoing cheek implantation, including the injection of fillers. I usually do Voluma, a hyaluronic acid filler, to the cheek. It lasts about 18 months. Implants can stay in long-term, but may be associated with complications such as infection, extrusion, malposition, and bone resorption. My recommendation is to see a fully trained plastic surgeon for full facial assessment and evaluation, as well as for a complete discussion of the risks and benefits.
