Dr. Spaulding is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and an Osteopathic physician. He is the only glaucoma specialist at the Institute. Before his medical career he served as a firefighter with the US Forest Service. He joined the Institute in 2018 and his special training includes the methodology and techniques of minimally invasive techniques to treat glaucoma.He has a special interest in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) combined with cataract surgery, and refractive cataract surgery with premium lenses.

Watery eyes is usually reflex tearing from dryness. Try artificial tears and hot compresses to the eyes.

Can you drive if you have cataracts?

Yes. Unless your vision is worse that the local guidelines. Your local ophthalmologist should be able to see and answer this question for you.

Can you get rid of cataracts without surgery?

No. Cataracts can only be removed surgically. Glasses can help till you need surgery.

Do cataracts affect your balance?

Yes and no. They are likely not severe enough to cause balance issues. The brain and ears are also responsible for balance. You should go see your primary doctor first.

Not usually. I recommend you see your primary doctor to be checked.

Possibly. Although the goal is to be glasses free. Nothing is 100%

If you don't have any jelly you shouldn't have any floaters. Although it's very difficult to remove 100% of the jelly at the time of surgery. so if you have floaters there's a possibility you have some residual jelly left over.
