Or, if you substitute a fruit smoothie for a meal, a fruit smoothie may well help you manage your diet for the day. A more complex fruit smoothie can contain nutritious calories: fruit plus fat-free yogurt or fat-free milk, combined with other nutrients such as spinach, flaxseed or other fiber, and avocado. But calories count! A 500 calorie smoothie is not a snack, but can be a healthy, filling meal.
