Cloé Couturier
Homeopathic Physician
Cloe Couturier, DMQCO, CSD, EHP-C, a highly skilled practitioner and advocate of somatic health, is deeply committed to the study and application of Clinical Qigong and Craniosacral Osteopathy. With a lifelong fascination with the brain and the body's innate ability to heal, Dr. Couturier's passion for holistic health began at a young age in her native France. It was during her formative years that she discovered the power of daily meditation and the profound impact of achieving mental, physical, and emotional balance on overall well-being.
Upon relocating to the United States, Dr. Couturier decided to pursue her calling professionally and enrolled in massage therapy school in 1989. It was during this time that she realized her natural talent for listening to the wisdom of the body and identifying hidden sources of pain and discomfort in others. However, it was her son's diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy in 1990 that ignited her true quest for knowledge and healing. Despite the prognosis of a shortened life expectancy, Dr. Couturier was determined to find ways to enhance her son's quality of life. This led her back to France, where she studied osteopathy at the prestigious British College of Osteopathy and Alternative Therapeutics in Paris, under the tutelage of renowned osteopaths such as Phil Beach, Andrew Kerr, and Phil Tanswell. Her comprehensive education encompassed classical osteopathic manual manipulation, as well as modalities like cranial osteopathy, visceral manipulation, muscle energy techniques, and others.
In 1993, armed with her Osteopathic Certification, Dr. Couturier returned to the United States and embarked on the study of craniosacral therapy. Developed by the esteemed John Upledger, D.O., at Michigan State University, this gentle touch and cranial manipulation technique proved to be a powerful tool for relieving stress, alleviating pain, and promoting holistic healing. Dr. Upledger's craniosacral therapy gained international recognition and is now widely embraced by practitioners in over 100 countries. In 1995, Dr. Couturier had the privilege of being invited by Dr. Upledger to join his clinic, where she worked closely with him to support her son's health. Since then, Dr. Couturier has become a leading advocate of Dr. Upledger's legacy, serving as a Diplomate Upledger CranioSacral Therapist and administering the "Upledger Client Education" platform on Facebook. For the past twenty-two years, she has successfully blended craniosacral therapy and Qigong in her private practice at the Upledger Clinic, achieving remarkable results.
In 1994, while teaching, Dr. Couturier crossed paths with Master Eduardo O'Campo, a transformative encounter that would shape her journey once again. Master O'Campo introduced her to the study and practice of Medical Qigong, setting her on a path to learn from some of the world's foremost Qigong Masters. Notable among her mentors are Master Binhui He, the developer of Taiji Five-element Qigong, a prominent qigong system used in clinical applications of qigong anti-cancer therapy, and Dr. Kevin Chen, an esteemed Qigong teacher who co-authored the first English translation of the official textbook of medical qigong. Dr. Couturier has also studied under the renowned Dr. Effie Chow, a Qigong Grandmaster energy healer, and organizer of the World Congress on Qigong. In 2012, Dr. Couturier earned her doctorate from the International Institute of Medical Qigong, studying under the esteemed Professor Jerry Alan Johnson and Dr. Bernard Shannon. Additionally, she holds a Doctorate of Medical Qigong (DMQ) from the Western District Medical Qigong Science and Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute. Since 1997, Dr. Couturier has been a faculty member of the World Congress of QiGong, sharing her expertise and insights.
For the past two decades, Dr. Couturier has been at the forefront of integrating craniosacral therapy and medical qigong, pioneering the combination of these practices to promote natural healing, wellness, and overall health. As an international speaker, she has developed numerous courses that highlight the synergistic benefits of these modalities. Countless patients from around the world, facing the most challenging conditions and unable to find help elsewhere, have experienced profound improvements in their health and happiness under Dr. Couturier's care. Her unique skills, unwavering dedication to healing, and extensive education and experience have made her a trusted and respected authority in her field.
Throughout her journey, Dr. Couturier has been blessed with brilliant teachers who are masters and innovators in their respective fields. However, her greatest teacher has been her son, Dorian. When he was diagnosed, doctors predicted a short life for him. Yet, he defied the odds and lived a vibrant and joyful life until the age of 31, surrounded by love. Through her relationship with him, Dr. Couturier learned the invaluable lesson that life is precious and fleeting, meant to be embraced and cherished to the fullest. She believes that every day and every moment is a miracle and a blessing, for which gratitude should be continuously expressed.
