Dr. David B. Duncan, MD

Neurologist

Dr David B. Duncan MD, FAAN is the director of the new Jersey Shore University Multiple Sclerosis Center, which is a part of the Hackensack Meridian Health System. Dr Duncan has been managing MS patients for over 20 years. He is a board-certified physician in neurology and neuro-rehabilitation. He is a certified MS specialist by the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers. He has completed studies in both Neuroimaging and Multiple Sclerosis and contributed his expertise to multiple drug trials for Multiple Sclerosis. After beginning his career as an attending at the NYU MS care center in New York City, he ran a premier comprehensive MS practice just north of New York City in Mount Kisco, New York, and most recently was a part of the comprehensive care team at the Holy Name MS center in Teaneck, NJ.

Dr Duncan Completed his Neurology training at the University of Kentucky. During his training he was awarded an honorary scholarship to study and work at the prestigious Max Planck Institute for Neurological Research in Cologne Germany where he completed research using Positron Emission Tomography. Following his Fellowship in Germany he completed a Functional Neuro-imaging/Nuclear Medicine fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He was the first prize winner of the American College of Nuclear Physician Fellow Award as a result of his research in abnormalities of brain metabolism.

In addition to his research interests, Dr. Duncan has held teaching positions at NYU and Columbia University where he taught neurology residents for many years. Due to his special achievements in neuroscience, the practice of neurology and community service related to neurology, he has been elected by his peers for the high distinction of being a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology.

Dr Duncan has spent his career providing the best possible evidence-based medicine to his patients. He has been named a Top Doctor by other physicians in NJ, NY and the greater metropolitan area every year since 2011. Dr Duncan is compassionate and cares deeply for his patients and sees his mission as to accompany each patient along their journey with their illness from diagnosis through treatment. In addition to his expertise in MS he has added experience in neurorehabilitation and offers spasticity management through the use of oral prescription medications, botulinum toxin and intrathecal baclofen. Dr Duncan sees patients at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center Campus in Neptune, NJ.
