Celebrities Who Have Had Lymphoma

Ethan Zohn

Ethan Zohn

While perhaps not an immediate household name, Zohn made his way into the public eye in 2001 by winning $1,000,000 dollars in the television series Survivor. He was voted sole survivor in the show’s third season, Survivor: Africa, and later invited to the eighth season of the show for an All-Star edition of the series. With his winnings, he co-founded the philanthropic organization Grassroot Soccer, which fights AIDS through fundraising and awareness campaigns.

Zohn’s real-world brush with survival came in 2009, when he was diagnosed with a rare subcategory of Hodgkin lymphoma. In addition to the standard bout of chemotherapy, he participated in a stem cell transplant in an effort to treat the rare form of cancer. He entered remission in 2010, and stayed in remission for approximately 20 months. The cancer returned in 2011, but Zohn fought hard to participate in another round of stem cell transplant, which proved successful. By the end of 2011, he was deemed in remission, and remains cancer free today.
