High School Track Star Overcomes Lupus to Compete with the Best

To not experience any flare-ups, Robertson strived to avoid the sun at all costs.

Since she was sensitive to the sun and exposure to UV light, Robertson decided that she was going to avoid the sun at all costs. This is not an easy feat, however, when you participate in track meets. She started to always carry an umbrella and to cover herself as much as possible until she had to compete. She applied sunscreen once every hour and made sure to keep herself hydrated at all times.  Even with these measures, she still suffered from sunburns and come home after meets exhausted and beet red.
