His grandmother, grandfather, and mother all died due to Alzheimer’s, and vascular dementia was the cause of death of his father. Because of this, he has 2 copies of APOE-4, which is a marker gene for Alzheimer’s disease. Similar to any patient with dementia, he has his own daily methods to cope with the disease. His family's finances are also affected, which not only causes him to stress, but also his wife. But, he is an active member of the Alzheimer’s Association and a supporter of the Dementia Alliance International-Global, so it's safe to say that he isn't allowing Alzheimer's to stop him.
