Is a Placebo Just as Effective as Morphine in Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain?
Opioids: A last resort for fibromyalgia and RA?
What the study has found is that it might not even be that helpful to use morphine in patients with chronic pain. Specifically, this study was performed on patients with rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia, meaning that for these specific patients, morphine likely isn't the right choice for pain relief.
If you suffer from rheumatoid arthritis or fibromyalgia, it may be a good idea to refrain from using opioid medications as much as you can. Try other ways of relieving pain, such as Tylenol, ibuprofen, or topical pain relievers too. There are also other homeopathic ways you can try to relieve pain, such as yoga, acupuncture, massage, or heating pads.
