The Struggle is Real. Fibromyalgia Is a Very Real Disease

Real stories from real patients

There are articles published in magazines, like the one in the New York Times, that chronical the frustration that sufferers go through.  A woman whose chronic pain developed following surgery had test after test, but nothing could explain the pain she experienced all over her body. After four years of going to doctor after doctor and test after test, plus chronic and horrible pain, a new doctor diagnosed her with fibromyalgia.

Still, another story is about Mary who continually fell down the stairs and could not remember where she was. People claim she was getting old, had dementia or needed a new pair of shoes. Mary went from doctor to doctor until she found one who validated her symptoms, talked to her about her lifestyle, and finally diagnosed her with fibromyalgia. It was a bit of a comfort when Mary, who by the way, was only 30, could finally put a name to her condition.
