Why Skeptics Question Fibromyalgia as a Real Disease

Open up to friends and family. Calmly explain to them your chronic pain

Without an objectively confirmed diagnosis, friends and family of the patient may be skeptical to recognize their pain and treat it as seriously as other more easily diagnosed diseases. Even so, patients should try to calmly explain their ailments to friends and family, and ask about their concerns and why they are hesitant to legitimize their pain. Diagnosed or not, someone feeling physically exhausted and uncomfortable should be able to rely on their closest friends and family for support, without fear of disbelief or being ridiculed. Friends and family are probably more likely to recognize your pain if you speak to them calmly from a position of reason and not a train-wreck of emotions.
