Service Dogs and Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia Symptoms

That being said, individuals with fibromyalgia are among those who could benefit immensely from owning and walking with a service dog. As many sufferers around the world may be familiar with, fibromyalgia is a condition characterized by constant muscular pain and excessive fatigue. Those who suffer from this disease refer several spots in their body as “sensitive spots”, which are located mainly on the neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms, and legs. Said spots are, as their name implies, usually sensitive to the touch and are frequently the source of aching pains. Moreover, fibromyalgia may also cause the following symptoms:

  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Muscle stiffness in the mornings
  • Frequent headaches
  • Particularly painful menstrual periods
  • Numbness in hands and feet

Problems with thought process and memories, often manifesting as forgetfulness.
