Can IBS cause back pain?

I’ve had a lot of issues throughout this month: sharp abdominal pain, pain in my sides and back, nausea, dizziness, headache, frequent urination, trouble emptying my bladder, chest pain, and constipation. The headache, dizziness, and chest pain were just within this week, the rest were this whole month. I was told I had a UTI, put on antibiotics, and it didn’t work. I went to the ER and tested again, put on antibiotics. They told me my kidneys, pancreas, and appendix were fine so it seemed it was a UTI. Antibiotics once again didn’t work. I had started trying to eliminate sugar a few days ago and that’s probably why I've had dizziness and headaches and the chest pain could have been anxiety as I’ve been very stressed. But I went to the ER again.

They said my urine is clear and bacteria-free and they said it’s very unlikely that I have an infection. They said my white blood count was not even high enough to suggest I have an infection. They pressed on top of my stomach and it hurt very bad, and they said it’s likely just my IBS (which I do have). Anyway, what I wanted to ask is can IBS causes back pain and how do I know that it’s my IBS. I’m assuming the bladder issues could be caused by the IBS since I’ve been constipated and also since I’ve been drinking a lot of water thinking I have a UTI. And nausea as well. But why do I have back pain? Also important to note my symptoms have all been coming and going.

This is quite extensive and best discussed in person, in the physician’s office. To answer your question, IBS may be associated with back pain but that doesn’t necessarily confirm the diagnosis. Please follow with a specialist physician.
