Can the Covid vaccine cause heart arrhythmia?

I got a covid vaccine 3 days ago. I now have a heart arrhythmia. Can the Covid vaccine cause heart arrhythmia?

1 Answer

The mRNA vaccines can on very rare occasions cause a heart inflammation called myocarditis, it is mild, lasts a few days, clears up with a few days of anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen, and leaves no after-effects. Technically there could be an irregular heart rhythm, but this is not considered to be directly due to the vaccines. Many adverse effects which are noted after vaccination are often coincidental and not related to the vaccines. You did not state your age, if there is a history of heart problems and which vaccine you actually received, and if it was after a first or later vaccine dose. These are important issues that need to be resolved to determine if it is safe to get another vaccine dose. Your COVID risk factors are also a big part of the decision-making. COVID-19 disease causes much more serious heart issues in some unlucky people than do any of the vaccines.
