Diabetic mother-in-law, 75 with dementia

My mother-in-law is 75 and has dementia and is having trouble remembering her insulin shots. We have been trying several things to help her daily. She recently had a blood sugar of a 32 from taking it in correctly. Is there a pump for a type two diabetic she has had diabetes for over 30 years And we are wondering is there something out there that could help her and make life easier and more manageable and safer for her with her insulin and timing

Hello,

That is definitely concerning. Insulin pump may not be the answer, because it can be dangerous in the hands of someone who cannot handle it. However, I agree that something needs to be done about this situation.

I would love to see her in office or by telemedicine. Please call us at 512-387-4224 or visit our website https://bluebonnetendocrinology.com/.
