Yes, tapering off diazepam can cause a temporary worsening of anxiety. This is because your body is adjusting to lower levels of the medication, which can lead to rebound anxiety or withdrawal symptoms. Other withdrawal symptoms may include irritability, insomnia, muscle tension, and sometimes more severe effects. To minimize these risks, it’s important to taper slowly and carefully under your doctor’s guidance. They may adjust the schedule based on how you respond. If your anxiety worsens significantly during tapering, contact your healthcare provider for support and possible treatment adjustments. If you have any further questions or need more clarity, please consult with a psychiatrist. If you`re in Texas, we welcome you to reach out to www.MidCitiesPsychiatry.com, we`re here to help you.
You need to be monitored closely while papering your medicines medicines and also talk about other options to address your anxiety issues
Stopping Diazepam can cause rebound anxiety because your body has developed tolerance to the medication. That is the risk of taking that medication- it causes a physical dependency (addiction). Taper very slowly and only under the supervision of your prescriber. There are other non-addicting anxiety medications, so ask if you can switch to one of these.

Good luck
