It depends. Some suture materials are resorbable and may disappear in about a week. Some will need to be removed by the dentist. The dentist doing the surgery will let you know how long your stitches will stay and if you need to return to have these removed.
The time depends on what type of suture material is used and the purpose for using sutures. Some suture material will disolve on it's own, some are made of silk, and other non-resorbable materials. These will need to be removed. Often sutures are placed to allow the gum tissue to seal the incision in this case the suture may be removed in one week other times sutures are used in bone grafting procedures and a longer time period would be required. Simple answer is the time period is dependant on the material and procedure. Check with your dentist if this is important to you.
It depends on the type of stitches used. One type dissolves in about 1-2 weeks, one type in one month and there are types that do not dissolve and you have to return to the dentist to remove them. Most likely though they will use one of the types that dissolve.
It depends on what kind of stitches are placed. If dissolvable stitches are placed, then they typically will last 7-10 days. If non-dissolvable stitches are used, they will need to be removed by your provider after 1-2 weeks typically and they would set that appointment up with you.
