Left Chest Pain. Quick onset, quickly goes away

Hello! For probably about 6 months or so I’ve been getting really sharp, almost a tighening pain in my chest [left side, I assume heart but for this case I’ll say chest] that goes away fairly quickly. While its there it hurst a decent amount. It’s not daily, maybe every other day to every few days. Should I go to a doctor? Please note I’m currently in the military & getting in for a doctors appointment can be lengthy [2 to 3 weeks] if so would going to a hospital be a better bet? Thank you!

Sharp pains are unlikely to represent angina, but an evaluation including troponin might be helpful. So I would recommend an evaluation. I cannot comment on your scheduling difficulties.
Yes. I think you should see a doctor. The problem with going to an emergency room if the pain goes away quickly is that by the time you get to the emergency room the pain will be gone. Obviously I don’t have any additional medical history on you or family history so my recommendation has to be qualified by that but I still think it can wait until you see a doctor.
