“Should I wear blue light glasses while working on a laptop?”
I work on a laptop 8 hours a day. Should I wear blue light glasses while working on a laptop?

Blue light glasses can often make longer periods of work on a computer/phone more comfortable, but it is certainly a personal preference.

There is no scientific or medical evidence that wearing blue light glasses will help with your vision, prevent eye fatigue, or allow you to be more visually comfortable. If you are having any problems while working on your laptop computer, a visit to an eye doctor may be something that you want to consider, especially considering that your eyes will change as we all age, especially after age 40. There are possible eyeglass prescriptions that can make your eyes more comfortable depending upon what a refraction shows (what your eyeglass or contact lens prescription is). And there are some tints that can be added to any eyeglass prescription to reduce the glare that can come from a computer screen. Before you do see an eye doctor, if that is your choice, please take a tape measure, and measure the approximate distance of your computer screen to your eyes. Whether you need a computer pair of glasses or a progressive lens, this can all be addressed by any eye doctor. Good luck and best wishes.
If they make you comfortable with your current prescription. Without prescription they may not be necessary
There isn't a yes or no answer to this as there are many factors that are involved. Some questions you can look into to help you find a better solution or at least prepare yourself to ask your provider may be: What type of blue blocker glasses are out there? Would it be helpful if some prescription was combined to help with eye strain and fatigue? What about computer applications like https://justgetflux.com/? I have patients that swear by blue blocker glasses and others that feel bad that they don't notice any changes or relief. I think it is worth learning more about it and depending on your computer exposure and situation it may be worth exploring.
