Brown discoloration on fingernails can have many causes, including:

Injury (even small bumps can cause discoloration)
Fungal infection (can cause yellow-brown discoloration)
Nutrient deficiencies (low iron or vitamin B can affect nails)
Reaction to chemicals (from nail polish, detergents, or cleaning products)
Past fever or illness (sometimes nails change color after being sick)
What You Can Do:
Keep nails clean and dry to prevent infections.
Moisturize if nails seem dry or brittle.
Eat a healthy diet with enough vitamins and minerals.
Avoid harsh chemicals by using gloves when cleaning.
If the discoloration spreads, worsens, or doesn’t go away, see a doctor to rule out infections or underlying health issues.
