I'm 47 years old and I have been bleeding for nearly a month straight. I know that this is a sign of menopause. What's the average age menopause begins?

Menopause is the absence of monthly periods. It is not normal to be menstruating for a month and you need to be seen by a gynecologist. In America, the average age of menopause is 51 years.
The average for menopause in the YS is approximately 52. This is an average so many start earlier and many later. You are probably in the peri menopause and should see you GYN for a blood test of your hormone level to make an exact determination as to where you currently stand and what treatment options may be available to you. If you continue with prolonged bleeding without seeking medical advice you may find yourself anemic which will then pose additional problems.

Bleeding fo a month is NOT normal or a sign of menopause. You should see your physician soon for an evaluation. The average age of menopause is 51. Peri-menopause usually starts in the mid- to late-40’s.
