My grandfather has cancer that has spread across his body. When should we put him in hospice care?

if the goal is to focus on comfort for your grand father and no further plan to take anti cancer treatment due to having adverse effects or treatment being ineffective then it would be reasonable to consider hospice services.
Depending on your grandfather‘s age and the type of cancer, treating him with palliative care only (Hospice) may be the best decision. Sometimes however, the type of cancer diagnosed could open the door to active treatment with excellent results, for example when we treat lymphoma, talk to his oncologist and see what they recommend.
