Urologist Questions cloudy urine

Is cloudy urine while taking antibiotics normal?

I have been on antibiotics for a viral infection, for the past 3 days. I'm close to the end of my prescription, but I've notices that my urine is cloudy and looks acidic, particularly in the morning. Could this be due to the antibiotics?

The commonly used antibiotics nitrofurantoin and metronidazole can lead to brown urine discoloration. Chloroquine and primaquine have also been implicated. Certain laxatives may also change urine color.
No, it is not normal. I would suggest at least seeing your PCP and getting a urine culture.
