“Do kids need antibiotics for tonsillitis?”
My daughter is 9 years old and has tonsillitis. Do kids need antibiotics for tonsillitis?

Most of the time - no - unless she is strep positive. Most "tonsillitis" is viral in origin and antibiotics will not help or lessen the illness
If strep is the cause of the tonsillitis it needs to be treated with antibiotics. If it is viral or allergic antibiotics will not help.
