How long does the stent stay in after kidney stone removal?

I am a 42 year old male. I want to know how long does the stent stay in after kidney stone removal?

It can be from weeks to a few months. The stent should ONLY come out once there is absolutely no further cause for ureteral obstruction--which is frequently due to stones but also from the residual SWELLING(or even scarring) in the ureter that results from the obstruction as well as any instrumentation to remove the stones and place a stent.

Thus, if a stent is removed before the obstruction(and/or residual ureteral swelling) has resolved, the obstruction can reoccur--and then INFECTION can set in behind the obstruction and cause potentially serious consequences.
