Vaginal ultrasound shows small blood vessels on my cervix. What causes them and do they go away?

Cervical varicosity is usually uncommon. Its cause in uncertain but progesterone effect on the cervix may be implicated. They may self resolve but occasionally may require surgical embolization- if it becomes bothersome.
Would need to know if there are associated pelvic symptoms, i.e., abnormal bleeding, spotting with intercourse. A thorough physical exam and PAP smear is a starting point. Unusual for US to pick up such a change.
