Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Questions Oral surgery

Is it normal to develop a low-grade fever after oral surgery?

I have a slight fever and I had oral surgery two days ago. Other than the slight increase in body temperature, I feel fine. Should I be concerned?

A low grade fever without any signs or symptoms of infection is not uncommon, and may be related to slight dehydration or in some cases due to lung effects from undergoing general anesthesia or deep sedation. Certainly fever that is unrelated to the surgery and is due to other causes needs to be considered if the fever persists, escalates, or becomes associated with any other new symptoms.
You should call your surgeon and discuss that as could be an issue depending on what you had done.
A slight elevation in temperature is not uncommon following many oral surgery procedures.
