kyste thyroidin

Hi, I have a thyroidien kyste of 3.5 cm (left part of my throat)
But these days it becomes inflamated and painful when I swallow food (only the left part of my troat is painful where the kyste is)
is it necessary to make an operation? Is it obligatory to remove all the theroide? (because the kyste is attached to the thyroide)? or shall I live normal without any operation and stay under check up every 4 months? Thanks a lot

Thyroid cysts Fluid filled nodules) are fairly common and rarely need to be removed surgically. I have treated these with a needle into the cyst which may sound barbaric but is not very painful and can remove the fluid and usually decreases the symptoms and size of the cyst.
