Nephrologist (Kidney Specialist) Questions Medullary nephrocalcinosis

What is medullary nephrocalcinosis?

I'm a 65-year-old male. Last month, I had a CT scan done to look for a kidney stone, but then the doctor found medullary nephrocalcinosis instead. What exactly is this? I know it has something to do with calcium, but I'm still very confused with this term.
