It is recommended that you go over any possible new medications, including calming medications, with the doctor treating your child, to go over any potential interactions with other medications your child is taking, other conditions your child has, and your child's lab results.
The antidepressants- typically with young children we use Zoloft- are safe. You can also use clonidine in children as young as 3.
