Get to know Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Paul J. Lee, who serves patients in West Islip, New York.

A prominent interventional cardiologist, Dr. Lee is affiliated with South Bay Cardiovascular – West Islip, seeing patients at St. Francis Hospital. He can also be found on staff at Good Samaritan Hospital and St. Catherine of Siena Hospital.

In regards to his educational background, he earned his medical degree from SUNY at Buffalo, and went on to complete his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Montefiore Medical Center. Finally, he completed his fellowship in interventional cardiology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

As a testament to his success, the doctor is board-certified in interventional cardiology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Lee has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award in 2014.
