Get to know Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Khachig K. Ishkhan, who serves patients in Illinois.

Dr. Ishkhan is a board-certified and fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist who has diagnosed and treated heart disease for more than two decades. He provides care through invasive and non-invasive procedures at Dev Medical Associates, operating out of the offices in Chicago and Des Plaines, Illinois.

Locally, he holds privileges at Community First Medical Center, Northwest Community Hospital, AMITA Health Holy Family Medical Center Des Plaines, AMITA Health Resurrection Medical Center Chicago, and Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Ishkhan graduated with his medical degree from Aleppo University School of Medicine in Syria. After relocating to the United States, he performed his internship, residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Chicago Medical School.

Continuously advancing his efforts, the doctor is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who excel and strive to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Interventional cardiology is the subspecialty of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter-based treatment of heart diseases. The field includes the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, vascular disease, and acquired structural heart disease. An interventional cardiologist is a cardiologist with one to two years of additional education and training in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease, as well as congenital and structural heart conditions through catheter-based procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting.

On a more personal note, Dr. Ishkhan is fluent in five languages, including English, Arabic, Armenian, French, and Turkish.
