An accomplished cardiologist, Dr. Azari is the Founding Medical Director of the Program for Cardiac Genetics, Genomics and Precision Medicine at Northwell Health. She also serves as an Assistant Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Her primary research interests are in the application of cardiac genetics with cardiac imaging.

Before embarking on her professional journey, she pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Following her undergraduate studies, she sought to apply her knowledge in the field of biotechnology. She gained valuable experience working at Northwest Biotherapeutics, where she engaged in cutting-edge research and contributed to the development of innovative biotechnological solutions.

In her quest for further expertise, Dr. Azari joined Cornell University under the guidance of Dr. Theresa Gunn, where she focused on mouse genetics, exploring the intricacies of genetic variations and their implications. Driven by her passion for research and patient care, she pursued a combined MD/PhD program at SUNY Downstate. There, under the mentorship of advisors Anna Babinska and Jonathan D. Marmur, she conducted extensive research, eventually culminating in her thesis on this significant topic.

After completing her MD/PhD program, she embarked on her medical residency at Mt. Sinai St. Lukes. Finally, she pursued a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Yale University, where she had the privilege of training under the esteemed Dr. Arya Mani, the director of the Yale Medicine Cardiovascular Genetics Program.

An expert in her field, the doctor is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
