    Yes. Depending on her abilities she may be appropriate for myofunctional therapy and speech therapy or just speech therapy. Recommend having her evaluated by Speech-Language Pathologist that also does myofunctional therapy. READ MORE

  • How long does speech therapy take for late talkers to work?

    There is no easy answer for this as it really depends on your child. Meaning how well they learn, how much of a delay they have, what areas they have delays in, etc. Even once your child is evaluated, there's no guarantee of time. READ MORE

  • Will my mother regain her speech after her stroke?

    This really depends on a lot of factors and isn't an easy question to answer. Variables include your mother's overall health and medical conditions, the severity of the stroke, which side of the brain that was affected by the stroke, how debilitating the stroke was, etc. Even with this information, it's hard to say because each person is different. What can be said, is that the first 6 months is the most impacting as far as recovery and it's important for her to receive therapy during this time period that is appropriate for her condition. Following 6 months, although progress continues to be made, it is at a much slower rate. READ MORE

    Late talking itself isn't genetic; however, conditions such as speech and language disorders can be genetic. This can result in late talking. READ MORE

    At 2 your child should be beginning to put two words together and by age 3 have at least three hundred words or more. I would recommend having your child screened or speaking to your pediatrician. READ MORE

    There is no cure for true stuttering. Children can start to stutter when very young or be perceived to stutter, then recover but this is really more of a development process rather than true stuttering. In general, by age 3 your child should have at least 450 words, be putting together 2-3 word phrases, as well talking about their environment and things they are doing. You can request an evaluation be completed by your local area school or through a private speech pathologist. Most Speech Pathologists provide screenings and consultations as well. READ MORE
