Who in your life has been affected by autism and how?
My Grandson
Where is your loved one on the spectrum?
His eating habits are the hardest thing to cope with. He appears healthy but I worry for his destruction of, well, everything. He tears up wall paper and just anything he gets his hands on, he is eight and is not potty trained. I worry about people bullying him while in school and him not being able to communicate. And he is an escape artist. There is nothing he can not escape from, it is terrifying. My daughter can not afford the fencing needed at this time. He has made strides in his therapy but there needs to be more sensory friendly schools in East Texas.
What do you wish people would understand about autism?
That he understands everything around him, he has sensory issues and yet he has the sweetest (angelic) nature. I believe he has a direct line to God.
