How to Have a Healthier Outlook Living with MS

Working on healthy habits

“What I see when someone takes steps to change their mindset is that they feel empowered, and it affects their choices. All of a sudden the habit they want to create starts sticking, self-sabotage goes away and you know that if something doesn't work, you'll figure it out – even if you don't have a rebellious streak,” said Hanson.

Both DeLuca and Strober agree that developing a positive mindset is vital for MS patients; however, this does not come easily for every individual. In a 2016 study conducted by Strober, she strived to determine personality in MS and the impact on psychological well-being, health, coping, and overall quality of life. Strober suggested that certain personality factors, such as distress, could be associated with inferior coping skills, increased tiredness, stress, and depression. However, the experts suggest that even such individuals can achieve a better and more positive mindset on MS if they can work on a few key habits.
