Is Pain Acceptance Really A Thing?
ACT therapy can either be done with group therapy or one-on-one sessions.
Patients who decide that ACT is the right path for them to take will need to seek help from their primary care physician. From there, they will be referred to a psychologist who will begin the therapy.
Therapy itself can be done in a number of ways, from group therapy to one-on-one sessions. Regardless of how the therapy is presented, the goal is the same: To use both behavioral and cognitive therapy to teach the patient acceptance and mindfulness strategies so that they can learn to cope with their disorder and the pain it causes.
