“One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” Will Always be Tied to Alzheimer’s
Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel
One Sunday, Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel was about to deliver her homily in a Presbyterian Church in New York. When she turned the page of her sermon, she saw that it was completely blank. It was all white to her.
She wanted to curse right then and there for forgetting to bring the entire sermon with her, and this has happened to her numerous times. She looked upward and continued with the homily in ad lib. In the conclusion of this homily, she asked a question without showing any anger or frustration.
Remembering that day, she said that the homily was a little shorter, but she was able to get through it, praying throughout.
Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel also is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
