The Link Between Sleep Apnea and Rheumatoid Arthritis

The study's hypothesis

This hypothesis was determined when the study took patients with and without rheumatoid arthritis, both groups consisting of the same sex, age, and BMI (Body Mass Index).  The individuals in the experiment all took what was known as the Berlin Sleep Questionnaire, which essentially observed the potential risk for sleep apnea.  Supplementing this test method was the analysis of three other factors for each patient who participated in the study.  The factors tested included snoring, fatigue or tiredness, as well as relevant comorbidities (the presence of two chronic conditions in an individual).  Each of these characteristics seen in the patients were then populated into what is known as a chi-square test, which helps to prove or disprove certain hypotheses proposed at the beginning of tests.
