The Link Between Sleep Apnea and Rheumatoid Arthritis
Their results
The conclusions of the study were as follows: Half of the patients with rheumatoid arthritis, as well as about a third of the patients without, were said to be at risk for developing sleep apnea. One of the distinguishing factors included fatigue, where those patients with rheumatoid arthritis reporting this factor more than double the amount of patients without the medical condition. Of the statistics obtained from the testing, though, one stands out more than the others. 14 percent of patients with rheumatoid arthritis already had a diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea, or OSA. This finding was met with the ultimate conclusion that the sleep condition is most often under-diagnosed within the rheumatoid arthritis population.
