  • Latex allergy?

Yes, having an artificial plant will not be an issue, wearing nonlatex gloves will also be advisable and safe.  READ MORE

  • Sulfa allergy?

Those two are different chemicals - your sulfa allergy will not prevent you from using those cough OTC medications.  READ MORE

  • Red skin rash?

Allergy could be present, but not very likely. Usually allergic rashes are very itchy and they keep spreading or worsening. I would advise seeing a dermatologist. READ MORE

  • Flushing of the face from Prednisone?

While flushing is not unusual with steroids, I suspect there is something else underlying the propensity towards flushing as the length of time of your symptoms cannot be solely blamed on the Prednisone. Direct side effects from medications normally do not last that long - there are a few syndromes that can, but this is not the case here. You may want to see either your physician or the dermatologist back to have full evaluation.  Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • Nasal congestion?

Even with a normal exam of the nasal cavity, one can still perceive they are congested. Sometimes the congestion is higher up in the sinuses and the lower part of the nose may appear completely normal. I would suggest following your allergist's advice on which medications to take and what to do to minimize the congestion.  Happy Holidays! Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • It happened overnight?

I am sorry you are having such uncomfortable symptoms. It is hard to tell from the pictures what type of rash we are dealing with, but it  could be hives. They can appear suddenly and are usually very itchy. I would advise seeing your primary care doctor and if it is itchy, take oral antihistamines over the counter. Your doctor needs to review your medications and make sure this is not a reaction to some of them.  Best of luck, Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • My lips and nails are a bluish color?

This is a very brief description and there is a lot more information needed to make a well-informed medical decision. However, one possibility of swelling of the lips and that can be serious in many instances, so I would advise seeing either your MD or Urgent care as soon as possible.  Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • Will an amoxicillin allergic reaction go away on its own?

I am sorry you are experiencing discomfort now. Yes, with time, the symptoms will subside. However, you should see an allergist to go over your reaction as that will impact what type of antibiotics you will need to avoid from here on. You will greatly benefit from seeing an allergist.  Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • What causes a non-itchy rash?

With rashes, it is impossible to know the culprit without actually seeing it. I would advise taking pictures of both rashes and seeing either your PCP or a dermatologist. The fact that it is not itchy argues against an allergic trigger.  Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • How do you know if a toddler has allergies?

At this young age, environmental allergies are not likely except for pet dander if there are pets at home. Food allergies can be present, so if he/she has ever had a reaction to something, I would advise having the child's skin tested with an allergist who can interpret the results and give you guidance.  Sincerely,  Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • What causes allergies in the winter?

Common allergens in the winter are dust and pet dander. A lot of people also have non-allergic rhinitis, which is symptoms mimicking allergies, but related to sensitivity to temperature changes and humidity. I would advise to have your child properly allergy tested by an allergist to have a clear understanding of his/hers symptoms and triggers.  Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • How do I know if my child has allergies?

The most reliable way to see if the runny nose is related to allergies is to have your child tested by an allergist. Skin testing is rapid, reliable, and usually well tolerated. READ MORE

  • Is this a bug bite?

It is hard to know if this is a bite - regardless if it is a bite or a pimple/follicle that was congested at this time, it is infected. You need to see an MD - go to Urgent care or to your physician immediately.  Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • What causes face swelling?

Facial swelling can be related to something simple such as dental issue or something more serious like an autoimmune condition. I would suggest to see an allergist/immunologist as soon as possible to have proper work-up.  Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • Is it alright to take the third dose of the vaccine 2 weeks after the second dose?

I would advise against it. There is no evidence to rely on to ensure this is safe. There are no certificates that arrive for the vaccine. You get the card filled out immediately. If you need proof, then go on Immune net or MyIr.com, select your state, and get your record that way. READ MORE

  • What can I give my child for mouth ulcers?

I am sorry your child is struggling with it - it can be very uncomfortable. Unfortunately there is no easy answer. There can be many reasons - sensitivity to tooth paste, gum and teeth health, there are also sensitivities to metals - drinking from cans, etc that can ne a problem. Viral infections, aphthous ulcers are common. Lastly, there are also some systemic disorders such as autoimmune ones. I would suggest you start with visit to the pediatrician - take pictures when the ulcers are active - and if he needs any specialists I am sure the pediatrician will suggest proper work-up.  Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • My seasonal allergies are severe?

I am sorry to hear you have such an experience. I would strongly suggest that you see an allergist for proper testing and evaluation. People with extensive environmental allergies over time can develop some food sensitivities - there are several possibilities and syndromes. In order to give you the best advice, proper testing and evaluation needs to be done by a well-trained and knowledgeable allergist. Sincerely, Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • Is the shots going to be sore before 7 days?

I am sorry you are still sore, but with time, the discomfort will resolve. You should be sharing this with your parents and care providers and they will decide if you need a check-up for this.  Monika Korff, MD READ MORE

  • How do I know if I’m allergic to peaches or cherries?

You should see an allergist and have proper allergy testing and address the symptoms you are experiencing when eating.  Monika Korff, MD READ MORE
